Equal Spacing & Cumulative Tape Pull Formulas
1. Equal Gap Width Formula
When installing stiles with full edge battens flush against both wall corners:
This guarantees that every interior exposed panel is identical down to 1/32" without awkward partial slivers at corners.
2. Why Cumulative Tape Pull Eliminates Error
Never measure gap-by-gap sequentially. Each pencil line introduces a 1/16" error that accumulates into a 1/2" error across 10 stiles.
Hook your tape measure once on the left wall and mark all leading batten edges without moving the hook.
