Terms of Service & Workshop Safety Disclaimer
Last Updated: October 2024 • Effective Date: October 1, 2024
Critical Workshop Safety Disclaimer
Woodworking power tools (table saws, miter saws, jointers, routers), high-powered laser cutters (diode, CO2, fiber), and reactive chemical casting compounds (epoxy resins, polyurethane, isocyanates) present inherent risks of severe physical injury, blindness, chemical poisoning, and fire hazard. MetriFab outputs are theoretical mathematical calculations and do not substitute for formal workshop safety training, manufacturer tool manuals, or proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using the calculators, visual SVGs, and specification databases at MetriFab (https://metrifab.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you must discontinue use of the service immediately.
2. Engineering & Fabrication Tolerances
All calculations provided by MetriFab (including drawer box clearance deductions, laser kerf offsets, silicone specific gravity conversions, and board & batten spacing) represent nominal mathematical guidelines derived from standard manufacturer datasheets. Physical results in fabrication will naturally fluctuate due to:
- Thermal & Moisture Expansion: Wood expands and contracts across the grain according to ambient workshop humidity; 3D printing filaments experience volumetric shrinkage upon cooling.
- Tool Calibration: Table saw arbor runout, blade kerf thickness (full-kerf 1/8" vs. thin-kerf 3/32"), and laser focus focal point adjustments affect real-world fitment.
- Material Inconsistencies: Nominal sheet goods (such as 1/2" or 3/4" plywood) frequently measure 12mm or 18mm in actual manufacturing practice. Always verify with digital calipers before performing final saw cuts.
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Mandatory Warning
Users are solely responsible for adhering to safety guidelines when executing physical operations based on calculations from this website:
- Eye & Ear Protection: Always wear ANSI Z87.1 certified safety glasses and hearing protection when operating power equipment.
- Laser Safety: Wear wavelength-certified OD6+ laser safety goggles corresponding to your laser source (450nm for blue diode, 10,600nm for CO2). Never leave a laser cutter unattended due to fire risk.
- Respirators & Ventilation: Always wear an organic vapor NIOSH-approved respirator (e.g., 3M 6001/60926) and work in a ventilated space when mixing 2-part resins, polyurethane, or soldering electronics.
4. Intellectual Property & Exported SVGs
The website design, proprietary math calculation engines, brand databases, and user interface elements are the intellectual property of MetriFab. Generated client-side vector schematics and cutting SVGs (such as laser box finger-joint cut files) downloaded from our tools are granted under an unrestricted license for personal and commercial fabrication use.
5. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall MetriFab, its developers, or contributors be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages—including ruined raw materials, equipment damage, miscut lumber, or personal injuries—arising out of the use or inability to use the calculators or data on this site.
